Emily earned her B.S. in athletic training from Duquesne University, completing clinical experiences with high school and collegiate sports medicine physicians and athletic trainers. After completing her degree and sitting for the Board of Certification, she continued her education at Georgetown University. There she completed the accelerated BS in Nursing program and sat for the NCLEX exam. She started her nursing career at Children's Nation Hospital working in the pediatric intensive care unit for 4 years. She then worked in the neonatal intensive care unit at Inova Alexandria Hospital.
Emily likes to spend her free time with her husband and son going to the beach and trying new restaurants.

Dr. Samuels is a proud alumni of TVT who earned her B.A. in psychology at Chapman University, and completed her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Samuels spent several years providing clinical care and consultation in community mental health and pediatric settings, and most recently completed a child psychology postdoctoral fellowship at The Guidance Center in collaboration with Miller Children’s and Women’s Hospital. Dr. Samuels highly values the bio-psycho-social approach to mental health and utilizes “the whole child” perspective to inform her clinical work.
When Dr. Samuels is not providing therapeutic care, she enjoys being a ‘fur-mom’ to two cats and one dog, baking sweet treats, and has a passion for interior design.
Mrs. Samuels grew up in South Africa where she attended school and graduated with a teaching diploma in Accounting and Economics. After immigrating to the USA she worked part time at TVT, moving on to College Counseling Assistant and then as the MS/US Administrative Assistant. With her early years spent in the classroom Mrs. Samuels loves that as the Administrative Assistant she still has regular contact with the students.
In her free time, Mrs. Samuels loves reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, watching sport, going on safari and walking her dogs.

Dr. Sardo believes that studying history is valuable not only because it helps us understand where we’ve come from, but also because it requires that we see the world from perspectives beyond our own. Dr. Sardo completed a B.A. in government and philosophy from The College of William and Mary in Virginia, before earning a M.A. and Ph.D. in political science at Northwestern University, where he wrote a dissertation on political responsibility in the history of political thought. He previously taught at Occidental College, UC Irvine, and Northwestern’s Center for Talent Development, and has published scholarly articles and book chapters on the history of political philosophy, responsibility, and global justice.
Outside of the classroom, Dr. Sardo spends his time reading, hiking and visiting the beach with his wife and daughter, playing tabletop miniatures games, and cheering for the Buffalo Sabres.

Mr. Segal inspires student growth in a collaborative, creative, and performance-driven environment. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, San Diego with a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Computing in the Arts and Music. OC Parenting Magazine named Alex Segal as one of the "Top Teachers of 2022.” He is a member of the Association for Popular Music Education (APME), Audio Engineering Society (AES), Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI), and National Association of Composers, USA (NAC-USA).

Miss Seikel has a B.S. in Psychology, as well as an A.A. in Theater from the University of Central Arkansas. Education has always been incredibly important to Miss Seikel. She is proud to come from a family of educators.
Miss Seikel is passionate about helping animals and the environment. In her free time, Miss Seikel loves to act, visit national parks, and travel.

“I love how curiosity and wonder spark student inquiry!” With over 16 years of teaching experience, Mrs. Shaw is thrilled to have the opportunity to guide students to become problem-solvers who can influence and transform the world! “Focusing on the intangible skills that guide students to success are paramount for life as a student and a member of the community.”
She earned her Bachelor’s at University of Redlands and her Masters in Educational Technology at Concordia University and strives to continually learn how to increase student engagement. Barbara has twice been named by OC Parenting Magazine as one of the Top Teachers of 1999 and 2022. Under her leadership last year, her team took first place in the international SPACE TEAMS competition.
In addition to teaching, she loves to cook, be creative, hike, garden, loves game night and space. She has raised two boys along with her husband of 30 years.

Ms. Siegel received her B.S. degree in Elementary Education from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and was graduating Valedictorian of her class. She received a Multiple Subject Teaching Credentials from the state of Colorado, as well as from the state of California. In addition, she holds Hebrew teaching credentials from the Bureaus of Jewish Education of Colorado and California. Mrs. Siegel also participated in writing the Tal Am Hebrew program and was selected to instruct other teachers how to teach Hebrew. After graduating from college, she taught at Theodore Herzl Jewish Day School in Denver, Colorado. When she got married and moved to California, she taught at Brandeis Hillel Day School in Marine County. In southern California, Sheila taught at Stephen S. Wise Day School in Los Angeles. She taught kindergarten where she enjoyed integrating the secular studies with Hebrew and Jewish Studies throughout the day.
In her free time Ms. Siegel loves to read, participate in leadership seminars and loves teaching children and coming to TVT every morning to see the smiling faces of her students.
Avery Smith joined the TVT community in 2025 as the Marketing and Communications coordinator, where she assists with the social media, content creation, story telling, and data analytics.
Ms. Smith earned a B.S. in Kinesiology at San Diego State University in 2022. She has spent her post-graduate career pursuing marketing, where she has gained valuable experience in social media and event marketing.
In her free time, she enjoys all things creative including photography, videography, and crafting. She also enjoys attending concerts and exploring new places around town.
Mrs. Smith earned a B.A. in English at San Diego State University and completed her Single Subject Teaching Credential at Alliant International University. Mrs. Smith spent 15 years teaching all grade levels at public and private schools throughout the Los Angeles area.
In 2021 she returned to her hometown of Irvine. In her spare time, she enjoys bike riding and playing baseball with her son.

Mrs. Stein earned a B.A. in English from the University of California at Santa Barbara, her teaching credential from California State University in Long Beach, and her M.A. in Education from Concordia University in Irvine. Mrs. Stein spent several years teaching English in Long Beach and spent a short time teaching language arts and reading in Garden Grove.
In her spare time, Mrs. Stein enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, as well as being an avid reader, Sudoku lover, and yoga student.

Ms. Stemmler started her teaching career as a Montessori Preschool teacher at UCI. She went on to write curriculum for the Education Department at The Segerstrom Center for the Arts. She earned her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Master's of Science in Special Education from California State University at Fullerton. She served as a lead teacher for multiple grades for IUSD. She is a Certified National Geographic Educator and completed the IMSE Impact Comprehensive Orton Gillingham program.
