• What colleges and universities do TVT graduates enter?

  Since our first graduating class in 2001, TVT graduates have been accepted to programs from Ivy League schools to prominent liberal arts colleges, from the University of California to foreign universities. Some recent examples are Harvard, Yale, Stanford, MIT, Cornell, University of Pennsylvania, Johns Hopkins, Brown University, USC, University of Michigan, Brandeis, Georgetown, UCLA, UC Berkeley and many, many more.

• Do you have to be Jewish to attend TVT?

  We welcome families of all faiths into the TVT community.

• What time does school start and end?

  Lower School Students (Grade TK-5th) 
          Monday, Tuesday & Thursday- 8:15 am- 3:15 pm
          Wednesday- 8:45 am- 3:15 pm
          Friday- 8:15 am- 2:30 pm (in honor of Shabbat)
  
  Middle & Upper School Students (Grades 6-12)
          Monday- Thursday 8:45 am -3:30 pm
          Friday 8:45 am -2:50 pm (in honor of Shabbat)
  
  
  

• What happens if my child does not know Hebrew?

  Hebrew is not a prerequisite to attend TVT. At each grade level we have systems in place to meet the needs of each student's level of Hebrew. In the Lower School, students are arranged within the class according to the appropriate level (beginning, intermediate and advanced). Additionally, we have Hebrew Resource Specialists and a pull-out program for those that need even more personalized instruction. In the Middle and Upper Schools, each student takes the level of Hebrew that is right for them- from beginning to advanced.

• What percentage of the day is spent on Hebrew and Jewish Studies?

  Twenty-five percent of the day is spent on Hebrew and Jewish Studies, and seventy-five percent of the day is spent on general studies.

• What extracurricular activities do you offer?

  All three schools offer a variety of after-school activities and Advanced Institute offerings at no additional cost to parents. A sampling includes: Tinker Time, Native Plant Gardening, Instrumental Music and Homework Cafe (in the Lower School); Middle School: Student Council, Chess Club, Science Club and Imagination Republic. Upper School: JSA, Mock Trial, ASB, Film Club, Comedy Sportz, National Honor Society, Guitar Club, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Chesed Corps.

• How involved are parents at TVT?

  TVT has a parent association with many opportunities to get involved at every level of participation. In the Lower School, opportunities include: volunteering in the classroom, field trip chaperones, weekly Kabbalat Shabbat services and holiday celebrations. In the Middle and Upper Schools, opportunities include: holiday celebrations, coaching opportunities, and ad hoc committees.

• Do you have after school care?

  Yes, we have a selection of after-school enrichment classes as part of our Innovation After School Program. Innovation After School offerings are available Monday-Thursday. TVT also offers after-school care until 6pm (Mon- Thursday) and 5:30pm (Friday). Please inquire with the admissions office for more information.
  
  In addition to our programs on campus, parents can utilize the after-care programs at the Merage Jewish Community Center located adjacent to our campus. Students are signed out and escorted by the JCC counselors for a seamless transition. 

• What sports programs do you offer for students (JV and Varsity)?

  Middle School girls (grades 6-8) can compete in Volleyball, Basketball and Soccer. Middle School boys can compete in Flag Football, Basketball and Soccer. They can also participate in a co-ed Cross-Country club. Varsity girls (grades 9-12) can compete in Volleyball, Basketball, Tennis, and Soccer. Varsity boys can compete in Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis, Baseball, Soccer, and Golf. Varsity Cross Country is co-ed. Swimming and equestrian sports are an option if someone wants to participate as an individual.

• When applying, how much weight is given to test scores?

  We look at test scores as a piece of the puzzle. Student visits, report cards, teacher questionnaires and faculty and administration feedback are of equal importance.

• Do siblings get special consideration?

  Qualified siblings get first priority for available spots but must fulfill the same admissions criteria as non-sibling applicants.

• Do you offer tuition assistance and how do we apply?

  Tuition assistance is available to qualifying families.

• Will an applicant needing tuition assistance receive the same consideration as a family not applying for financial aid?

  Absolutely. Applications for tuition assistance are kept confidential and not handled by the Admissions Office.

• When will we be notified of the school’s decision?

  Decision letters are typically mailed in March.
